Autscape 2017: Autism in context
(last updated 26 Mar 2017)
The theme for Autscape 2017 is Autism in context.
This is a broad theme that encompasses exploration of autism from within every possible context. We invite proposers to interpret the theme freely and creatively. The one common thread is that proposals should not be introspective – that is, not just about "us" or the autistic community. This year's theme is about the interaction of autism with something else.
Possible example topics include (but are not limited to):
- autism in a particular social context (society, work, countries, etc.)
- autism in combination with other conditions/disabilities
- applying the concept of autistic space to other environments
- intersectionality: belonging to other minority groups and how different types of discrimination interact
The theme is meant to inspire presenters as well as to provide some coherence to the programme, not to be overly restrictive, so feel free to be creative in its application. Presentations which seek to develop this theme will be given priority; however, any suitable topics will be considered.
