Trains and Airports
Autscape has arranged travel to the venue from Norwich train station. This page gives suggested public transport routes from some of the airports and a ferry port to Norwich train station. Please e-mail travel2012@autscape.org if you need further assistance.
Note: Sometimes there are two or more routes by rail, one via London and one avoiding London. Often in these cases there are two tickets available; the 'avoiding London' ones are cheaper but the journey may take longer. Check the National Rail planner for prices.
UK train and coach tickets are often cheaper if booked in advance. This includes the route between London Liverpool Street and Norwich train station.
Britrail sell point to point railway tickets. Britrail is only for people who live outside the UK. Anyone travelling on a Britrail point to point ticket must have proof of residency on them while travelling. See their FAQ for more details.

From Norwich Airport
By bus
- The bus terminus is three to five minutes walk from the airport building. Leave the building, turn right (opposite direction to taxi rank). Follow the path past the carpark to a small roundabout. Turn right at this roundabout and you'll see a building to your left. This is the Airport Park and Ride site where you get a bus to Norwich bus station.
- The service number is 603 and the buses run approximately once every 15 minutes.

By taxi
(We know taxis are not public transport, this option is listed because it is low cost.)
- There is a taxi rank at Norwich Airport. If there are no taxis present, there is a free information phone which can be used to call one.
- Taxis from Norwich Airport to Norwich train station or bus stations cost in the region of £12 and take about 20 minutes.
- Taxis from the airport direct to the venue will cost around £35.
From Stansted Airport
By train
- This journey usually involves just one change at either Cambridge or Ely depending on time of day.
- Use the National Rail website to plan your journey or ask at Stansted Airport's train station.
- If you have a choice of changes, Cambridge has more facilities, but Ely is quieter and step free and has more connections with Norwich. The Cambridge to Norwich train also calls at Ely.
- Journey time: around 2 hours.
By coach
- Coach service number 727 (timetable) goes from Stansted airport to Norwich City Centre.
- This service is ran by National Express.
- Journey time is approximately 2 ½ hours.
- Coaches run approximately every 2 hours.
- The service will leave you in Norwich bus station. See here for how to get from Norwich bus to Norwich train station.
- Journey time: about 3 hours.
By coach and train
- Take the National Express coach service from Stansted airport to Colchester bus station (one hour)
- Take the bus or walk between Colchester bus station to Colchester train station (about 1 ½ miles. Use Traveline East Anglia to view bus and walking options.)
- Then take the train from Colchester to Norwich (a little over an hour).
- Use the National Rail website to plan this part of your journey.
- Journey time: about 2 ½ hours plus connections.
From London City Airport
By train
- Take the Docklands railway (Destination Canning Town). Get out at Stratford (London).
- From Stratford take a train directly to Norwich.

- Journey time: just under 2 ½ hours.
From London Heathrow Airport
By train
- Use the Transport for London website to plan your underground journey to London Liverpool Street.
- Take a direct train from London Liverpool Street to Norwich Train Station (terminates at Norwich).
- Journey time: 3 to 4 hours.
By coach
- National Express coach service number 727 (timetable) goes from Heathrow airport to Norwich bus station.
- Travel from Norwich bus station to Norwich rail station - see here for details.
- Journey time: over 5 hours.
From London Gatwick Airport
By train
- A suggested route is Gatwick airport to London Bridge station, London Bridge to London Liverpool Street, London Liverpool Street to Norwich.
- Use the National Rail website to plan your journey.
- Journey time: about 3 ½ hours.
By coach and train
- Take easyBus from London Gatwick Airport to central London. EasyBus is cheap and stops close to Earl's Court station (journey time: a little over an hour).
- Use the Transport for London website to plan your journey from Earl's Court to London Liverpool Steet. Journey will take around half an hour.
- Get train to Norwich from London Liverpool Street.
- Journey time: nearly 4 hours plus connections.
By coach
- Coach service number 727 (timetable) goes from Gatwick airport to Norwich City Centre bus station. This service is run by National Express.
- Journey time is approximately 6 hours.

By train and coach
- Train to Victoria Station (45 minutes). Use the Transport for London website to plan your journey.
- Walk to Victoria coach station (10 minutes). It is signposted.
- The 490 service runs to and from London and Norwich. (timetable)
- Get from Norwich bus to Norwich train station. We have suggested routes.
- Journey time: five hours plus connections.
From East Midland Airport
By train
- Take the airport connection to Nottingham Train station. See the East Midland travel webpage for details on how to do this.
- From Nottingham there is an hourly direct train to Norwich (terminates at Norwich). Use the National Rail website for times.
- Journey time: varies between 2 ½ and 3 ½ hours (plus connections).
From Birmingham International Airport
By train
- Choice: via London (change in London) or via Peterborough (two changes). Both journeys take about the same amount of time. The Peterborough route avoids London and may be cheaper.
- Peterborough route (not given on the National Rail website):
- Train from Birmingham Airport to Birmingham New Street. This service runs every few minutes and takes under 15 minutes.
- Next, take the Stansted Airport train from Birmingham.
- Change at Peterborough or Ely for the Norwich train. There is more choice for Norwich trains at Ely.
- Use the National Rail website to check the times of services between Birmingham New Street and Norwich.
- If going via London, use the National Rail website for journey details. These will include how to get from London Euston, where the Birmingham train terminates, to London Liverpool Street, where the Norwich train starts.
- Journey time for both: around four hours.
From London Luton Airport
By train
- Shuttle bus from airport to Luton Airport Parkway (five minutes).
- Train journey typically goes via Farringdon and London Liverpool Street.
- Use the National Rail website to plan journey from "Luton Airport" to Norwich.
- Journey time: 3 to 3 ½ hours.
From Harwich Ferry Port
By train
- Harwich ferry port is about 70 miles from the venue.
- Take the train to Manningtree and change there for a train to Norwich. Services are about hourly.
- Check the National Rail website for details.
- Journey time: under 1 ½ hours.
