Meals and food

This page about Autscape 2008 is of historical interest only. Go to the home page for current information.

There were three meals per day provided for people staying on-site. People staying off-site had lunch and supper provided. Meals were served cafeteria-style, with a queue and servers, in a communal dining hall, but once you had your meal you could take it to your room or out to the garden.

Most special diets (e.g. nuts, seafood, dairy and gluten free diets as well as vegetarian, vegan, and diabetic diets) were catered provided the venue was told of it in good time. Self catering was only available to those who needed it for medical reasons, for example people with very limited diets.

Meals and Dining Room

Breakfast, lunch and dinner were held in the main dining room (Number 28 on map). The dining room was a bright room with lots of natural light. The dining room closes at the end of each meal.

Serving stopped half an hour before the end of each meal.

Menus can be viewed here.

Coffee Breaks

There were coffee breaks in the afternoon and morning between presentations. These were held in the dining hall. Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided.

Mini Kitchens

Both houses had mini kitchens containing a hob, kettle, microwave and toaster. One of the houses also has an oven. Both houses also had small fridges. Self-caterers had priority use of these.

Village Shop

While there was a village shop about eight minutes walk from the houses, it was closed when we stayed. The town of Settle a mile or so away had a good selection of shops.

Drinks

All the tap water was drinkable. Filtered water was available in the houses. There are also two pubs in the village. One, which also serves meals under ten minutes walk from the venue.
